thinking out loud
Couple of to-dos for the blog:
compare and contrast AP and AFP wire service reports on yesterday’s rubber bullet incident in Oakland, analyzing for how they are largley similar except for a few key sentences that cast the pieces in entirely different light.
quick write-up on quantity of “primary literature” versus “non-blog-sourced” literature versus “blog-sourced literature” appearing on various kinds of blogs as an index of what? blogginess? and implications of this for information flitering/flow.
measurement of number of 1) new program version releases 2) new programs 3) new concepts coming out of the zeropaid portal per week. Peer to peer is a fascinating realm of programming and network flow thinking right now, and there is little enough loyalty among filesharers + a high enough technophilia qoutient encouraging the trying of new things + the ability to run multiple file sharing apps simultaneously allowing using your old workhorse at the same time as playing with a new idea that new concepts stand a real chance of fast adoption. Consequently there is a great deal of real world thrashing around and evolving under intense selection pressure. Concepts in P2P software come fast, are tested fast and replaced fast. People must have to pull over to the side of the road pretty often to give their smoking overheated brains a chance to cool off. I wonder if they have cisterns of cool water near their computing desks like there are ever few hundred meters along the southern desert mountain highways.
Filesharing really deserves a better portal/news site than zeropaid. I wonder if there is one?
