it’s a sunny day
A low to the southwest of us was spitting off pockets of sunny beautiful weather that bejewelled life for us last week. We had a break from the sun for the weekend – the usual rainy misty grey cold oceanic mountainous Squamish weather.
The sun is back today though. And it’s my weekend. It’s a short weekend this week, but that’s because next week I’m taking some extra time to go to Victoria. That is in the future.
Last night’s weekly jam was a really nice one – we had some solid trancey grooves which we don’t usually do. I also got to break out an acoustic thing that I used to play outside my tent every night one summer in alberta. Hearing it again with hand drums, lead guitar, bongos, ukelele, viola and a little celtic harp was… great.
I like the hair trigger nature of the jams. Anybody playing anything sets off, well, music.
dialogue:
someone to me: “hey, don’t stop, we were just getting into it”.
me to someone: “stop what?”
stm: “that thing you were doing on the guitar. What’s that C, G, Am?
mts: “I didn’t notice.”
stm: “keep playing the song”
mts: “there is no song!”
stm: “the hell there is no song, keep playing!”
mts: “Okay, what was it, C G Am? Okay.”
music ensues.
But that’s in the past. Today it’s blue outside, and it’s a day off, and the seat outside the sunshine bakery is calling. I have some things to get done today, but you never know when clouds could roll in and make it all misty and beautiful and cold, so best not to waste the moment. I need a book…
