Liberal Convention Live on CPAC
The Canadian Liberal party is electing their new (new new) leader. The convention runs yesterday through the weekend. All four top candidates have a real shot. Statistically speaking, they’re electing the next Prime Minister.
CPAC is running a live video stream of all the action via their website. Which is a really cool thing to do. In both languages, and “the floor” for the bilingual among you. Way to go CPAC! The stream is only available for Windows Media Player. Oh for the love.
They have Lenny Gallant, “A Tribute to Paul Martin” (cringe), a house band, and more bilingual anglophones then you’ll ever see again (cringe cringe cringe).
Schedule is here. As far as I can tell, the good stuff (as good as it gets) runs 4:00 till 9:00 Friday evening. Then the inevitable second second ballot kicks off 9:00 Saturday morning. That’s when, as Don Cherry would say, the mucking and the grinding will go down.
Fuck Don Cherry.
If I were a voting delegate at the Liberal Covention, it would be a very different world. But if I were, I don’t know who I would vote for. I’m suprised by just how queasy I am about Micheal Ignatieff. I would love to see Ignatieff, who is an earnest, ideas-centered academic above all, debate Harper, who is an earnest, ideas-centered academic first and foremost. I just don’t think I want it to be over which one will be the Prime Minister of my home country. Crikey.
Well, tally ho, I suppose.
