Scandinavia is the New Them

In Canada we have a tendency to calibrate ourselves against US standards. How are we doing on wage gap versus the Americans? Energy use? Emmissions? Tuition costs? Population in prison?

The trouble is, the US is often either an extreme case or a bad one. So I was pleased by a sentence in this Reuters report…

…in which Stephane Dion declares that he wants “Canada to have productivity as strong as the Scandinavian countries and to do that, you need to bring the environment and the economy together.” Scandinavia. Hell yeah.
