a peculiar vacation email
I got this auto-responder email from a colleague who is on vacation.
From: “Larry Costick”
Subject: Larry Costick/PSW/USDAFS is out of the office.
Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2003 01:01:54 -0700
I will be out of the office starting 07/16/2003 and will not return until 07/29/2003.
I’m driving a 1934 Ford 8N back from Ohio. In an emergency call my cell phone –Larry
OK sure. Shades of the Straight Story. Here’s what a Ford 8N looks like, so you can picture Larry Costick driving it from Ohio:
Apparently he hasn’t left yet though, because when I emailed him to point out that Ford didn’t start making the 8Ns until 1943 – thank you internet – I got this response back:
You are right I’m told now that it was really a 1942 2N but I have to check that out myself I thought that we were building tanks in ’42.
