While this turn of events likely has nothing to do with your personal virtues, though they be many, and even though pregnancy and child birth are a regular and generally normal part of the human experience, and even even though I hate being caught up in the often empty, scripted, and expected exchanges of North American culture, I have a small swelling in my chest that requires that I wish you congratulations and need to so, in part because, even though I don’t know your family members, I do know what a god damn great uncle you will be.
